Recommended Organizations

Some groups I highly recommend joining - for your sake.

Just Plain Folks
There's SO much to say about Just Plain folks that I'll let their website do the talking. :-)

TAXI!
An independent A&R company. They're great at getting songwriters placement in films and TV shows, and getting your songs heard by people in the industry who wouldn't hear them otherwise. They've gotten record deals and publishing deals for their clients, though don't go EXPECTING that, because not everyone can. At VERY least, they give good critique for your new songs, and are a good place to make a bunch of new connections and just keep pounding the pavement. Their annual ROAD RALLY conference in L.A. is one of the best conferences I've ever been to and it's FREE to members. (That alone is worth the membership fee!)

Indiegrrl
A forum for information, networking and conversation about independent music from a female perspective. Started as an email list. Turned into a movement. Highly recommended.

StarPolish
StarPolish helps to educate and develop musician's careers. They have the BEST advice library of articles. Membership gives you more exposure on their site.
West Coast Songwriters Association (WCSA)
The most active songwriters association in the USA, with more than 15 events a month. Once a year, they gather at a beautiful outdoor college campus for two whole days of focusing on the craft of songwriting. I've been there for the last two years and love it. Hands-on critiques and songwriting workshops.
